Game X annoys me because
From KruelWiki
My pet hate with most games is 'magic' ... things happening that just dont make logical sense. I dont mind them when they explain it away with computers or whatever in your ship but yeah some things just dont make sense.

Most FPS
- AI - Bots should work with each other to create ambushes and traps
Freelancer
- 2D space - How annoying is it! space is 3d and yet they limit you (more or less) to 2d. If we keep the galaxies flat i'll be postal! If people can't handle 3D space, they shouldnt play.
- Space station scale - 1 docking port for an entire planet? Riiight ... make it 20+ and we might have a deal.
- Economy
- You can buy and sell at 100% predictability, regardless to if a huge cargo train just landed with 1,000,000 units of the cargo you were ABOUT to sell. FreeMarketEconomy PLEASE.
- Commodities - Sure, the range to purchase isnt *too* bad, but the prices are just far too bunched up to the lower end of the market! For instance, if your ship is rated to carry 20 tons, and you fill that with diamonds, you should have to be bloody rich (and stupid but thats another story)
- Debris/ Mining
- Infinite resources? Nah, it should reduce the overall matter in the field. Sure, treat it like one averaged out area but if a million monkies in mining ships were mining ... there should be a noticable impact. Perhaps data points at 10km interverals spherically (because its 3d) interpolated.
- Magical minerals - Just shooting a rock to get minerals? nah ... u should get an ore with perhaps some % content (random, which would average out with the other ore of the same type in your hold) and then have to process it/ have it processed.
- Decontamination - there are a few 'hazardous zones' ... errr, dont you think in space they'd have hazmat units and have learnt how to decontaminate space?
- Planet size - Planets are damn small, and you can get very close to them. Planets should be huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge compared to your ship.
- Laws of motion? - If you stop accelerating, you should keep on going. If you keep accelerating, you should keep speeding up.
- This point isn't entirely valid. If you shut off the engine (Z i think) and hit the thrusters (TAB), and let go, you'll keep on going with a very small amount of restistance. You won't keep accellerating though. The normal ship control mode (with engines on) has breaks/decellerators to make it feel more like a movie, which is what the marketers think you want, I guess.
- Gravity - I think planets and suns should have gravity. Some may disagree, but I think it would be fun slingshotting around things.
- System size - One or two planets per system? Come on, lets get some proper orbiting happening here ;)
- Distance - I feel the distances are way too small, space is BIG, even things like the asteroid belt and giant dust "clouds" are pretty much just empty space. It is _hard_ to find things, there is a lot of space in space. Also you should be able to spot ships from a very far distance, and use long range weapons.
Privateer
(I know its old, but it still annoyed me at times!)
- 3 Ships? Thats a bit of a joke, more of a joke than Freelancer's collection but understandable with the age of the game and its budget which would have been far more modest comparitivly
World of Warcraft
We're not doing RPG stuff for a while, but the online issues are related:
- Pings! If we ever offer a pay-for-use online server then we *must* have a policy to ensure that we purchase servers to match the geographical locations of our users as it is financially feasible, perhaps with a petitioning system?
- Linkage between servers - Having everyone forming part of one universe would be awesome, parts of the universe might have to be in different locations physically which would mean that australians might hang out in a few systems here and there, and americans in another few systems.
- Patching system: My freaking goodness it is a load of steaming turds. Bit torrent is great to steal all those movies and make the poor actors lose $0.00001/download but for distributing patches? Can't the US$15/mo cover a few meg of downloads? Sheesh. At least let other sites mirror the content or something.
- Battlegrounds:
- Great idea but there seems to be no real way of structuring a decent attack without taking in a lot of ppl who will actually listen to you. We all know people online are arrogant pricks, so the game world should help inforce a system of orders and what not. The ranks in the game need to be used to help order attacks.
- You shouldn't have to wait 6 hours plus to get in. You should be able to just get on with it, and not have to wait around to spill the blood of your enemies. And then where when you're bored waiting to get in, your connection doesn't drop right when you're picked, or you're helping out some lower level guildies with a dungeon, you get almost to the end and you're picked.
- The storyline shouldn't be boring and repedetive and repedetive. DEATH TO THE MURLOCS ALREADY, I KILLED LOTS OF THEM IN LEVEL 9, AND AS THEY'RE NOT A REAL FACTION IN THE GAME THEY SHOULDN'T REALLY KEEP POPPING UP BEYOND LEVEL 15!
