Version 1 - Space Shooter

Comparisons

At the end of version 1 we should have a game that is comparible to, if not better than:

  • Elite
  • Privateer
  • Freelancer

Version 2 - First Person Shooter

Comparisons

At the end of version 2 we should have a game that has an FPS system integrated with the flight system that surpasses that of the BattleField series (1942, Desert Combat and Vietnam)

Version 3 - Strategic Elements

Comparisons

We should have a strategy game that has the same freedom of RTS controls as Homeworld without unit building etc.

Version 4 - World Building

Comparisons

People should be free to build their own houses, bases and more

  • Star Wars Galaxy (? not sure, havent played it)
  • Ultima Online

Version 5 - Unlimited

There have been suggestions to make the world fully scriptable so that people can invent ships, ingame and build them, use them etc. The new ships could then be manufactured and marketed in-game, creating in-game wealth for the inventor.

Comparisions

Very loosely this would compare to Gary's Mod for half life 2, but on a global (universal?) scale.

Summary

In conclusion we must be able to emulate the sucesses of a lot of games. This means an AWFUL lot of work from all departments.
