Beta 1 Summary

This will be the first demo to help entice people to get involved. As such it has to be fairly significant, and preferably stable ;)

Details of what assets are going to be required and who is providing them is listed under Beta 1 Requirements.

General

  • OGRE to handle video options (using Ogre.cfg)
    • Taken care of, video options dialog at start-up is helpful regarding this --SkoZombie 19:01, 29 Apr 2005 (CDT)
  • Client/ Server model - Seperate server executable, min of 8 player support, no path prediction.

Game Details

  • Single system - 5 planetoids, 2 space stations
  • Limited ships - 3 ships
  • Single weapon - Instant laser (optionally an array)
  • Strict dynamics will NOT be required. The dynamics of the game will be very loose, using magic numbers etc.

Input System

  • Text file edit required to rebind controls
  • Basic dual joystick support
    • Might need a 'bonus' program to help with calibration of joystick issues under linux
  • Mouse support

Sound

  • Background music support
  • Basic sound effect triggers (weapon fire)

For packaging, we will focus on win32 (nullsoft installer?) and linux binaries (RPM, DEB etc). MacOSX will be (offically) supported in later releases once we get past compile issues.
