Introduction
You've made it thus far... thats the first step in getting involved in Praelium, or any other Kruel project! We appreciate your interest.
Getting Started
If you haven't already you should register on the wiki via the login page. This allows you to edit any pages that you wish to contribute to.
Related Sites
Currently, your login info isn't shared between other Kruel sites (), including the main kruel website, and the bug/issue tracking system 'Mantis'. You will need to sign up on each of these seperately, and it's best you understand their unique purpose.
Wiki
The purpose of the wiki is Documentation.
If you want to discuss the story or a specific aspect of a game, this is the place to do do it. The discussion pages is where you should ask questions. Any change you make is logged on Special:Recentchanges and will be seen by the appropriate people so they can answer your questions.
Mantis
The purpose of Mantis is Management.
It is one thing for us to document our issues, and where we want to head, but if there is no management of these issues and bugs, these items will be missed and improperly taken care of. We link to mantis from the wiki using a 'Bug:#' link rather than a link to another wiki page.
Kruel Websites
There are two websites that relate to kruel. The overall mission of the websites is Communication and Promotion
Kruel.org
Refered to as 'KruelOrg'
The purpose of this website is Communication and Organisation for the community. This is where people will upload images, models, music, sound fx, and all sorts of other data files that isn't really suited to long-term wiki use.
This website will be project focused, and will probably host contributor's related projects, in a similar fashion to source-forge but with a less generalistic approach.
KruelStudios.com
Refered to as 'KruelCom'
The .com website will be focused on Facilitation and Promotion of Kruel. This is for such thing as taking care of business related issues such as billing, distribution of stable binary packages etc. As per other components of Kruel, login will be via Virtigo.
Specific issues are:
- Investor Records
- Sponsor Management
- Financial Records
- Promotion of Key Products
- Document Download (Contracts etc)
Using the Tools
Wiki
The wiki is often referred to (by me at least) as "Multiplayer Notepad". Its a great way to note down ideas, but without a few guidelines things can get messy and much time wasted cleaning it up.
Article Vs. Discussion
Each entry has both an article to hold the main document. If you have a correction or addition to make, by all means make the required changes. If you've got a question or comment, these belong in the 'discussion' or 'talk' page.
Feel free to ask anything you like on the talk pages. There is no such thing as a dumb question. The comments and questions that are left on the talk page help the people editing and maintaining the page know what needs clarification.
